ALTSO’s Rocktoberfest: The Financial Industry Rocks to Provide Prosthetic Limbs for Children in the Developing World
A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) has a new slogan: “Mobility is More than Movement.”
This slogan succinctly defines the mission of the non-profit who provides free prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, appropriately fitted wheelchairs, and rehabilitative care to children in the developing world who live with untreated limb disabilities because they cannot afford treatment.
The “Mobility Is” campaign launched at the organization’s signature fundraising event, Rocktoberfest, in 2017 in Chicago and New York, hosting more than 1,500 leaders in NYC and 500 in Chicago from the alternative investments and finance industry for a night of rock & roll, and featuring over a dozen bands whose talented performers are also industry leaders.
This year’s series of Rocktoberfest events include three key markets – New York celebrating its 15th anniversary, Chicago going into its 7th year, and the inaugural event in London this past June. The events celebrate ALTSO’s impact of 17,000+ children treated to date, and the primary support of the financial industry makes mobility a reality for more ALTSO CoolKids in need.
ALTSO’s patients come from families earning an average of $3 per day, and without the funds necessary to begin or continue long term treatment, they simply cannot afford the treatment their children need.
Without mobility, a child in the developing world cannot walk the average 3 miles to school. Without education, they can’t secure future employment, or sustain a family of their own one day; mobility is more than movement.
For more than a decade, Rocktoberfest has gathered colleagues, friends, current and prospective clients for what has been recognized as one of the most unique, highly anticipated and effective events in the charitable and finance sectors in order to make the dream of mobility a reality for more children around the world.
